Research:
My research combines extensive fieldwork with experimental
laboratory-based study, in an attempt to elucidate the taphonomy,
ontogeny and palaeobiology of the Ediacara biota. These organisms lived
at the transition between the Proterozoic microbial world, and the
explosion of metazoans in the Phanerozoic. Understanding their role in
this transition, and their interactions with both biological and
physical external factors, is the main aim of my work.
I
completed my D.Phil. at the University of Oxford in July 2011, with my
thesis focusing upon the Ediacaran palaeontology of Newfoundland
(Canada) and the United Kingdom. The D.Phil. was completed under the
supervision of Prof. Martin Brasier (Oxford), and Dr Duncan McIlroy
(Memorial University of Newfoundland).
