Research: Earthquake seismology and lithospheric structure
I am a research student, working with James Jackson, Keith Priestley and Alex Copley. My research is focused on using seismology to study earthquakes at a range of scales in both oceanic and continental regions, and combining seismological results with other geophysical observations and geodynamical modelling to study the rheology, structure and dynamics of the lithosphere.
Ongoing research projects:
- The factors controlling the spatial distribution in seismicity within the African continent, how this is related to the lithospheric architecture, and to the forces acting on the base and edges of the plate.
- Controls on the seismogenic structure of the India-Asia collision zone from temperature and composition.
- The influence of the thermal and rheological structure of Tibet on the regional tectonics of Central Asia.
