Solution ICP-MS Applications
If samples are liquid solutions or can be easily dissolved in nitric, hydrofluoric, perchloric, or hydrochloric acid (or any combination thereof) the preferred method of sample introduction is by a nebuliser/spray chamber. The liquid is delivered via a peristaltic pump to the nebuliser, an example is shown to the right. The nebuliser creates a fine aerosol that is carried to the plasma by the argon nebuliser gas.

- Plant tissue
- Silicate rocks
- Calcium element ratios in foraminifera
