IA Arran photo competition 2018

In 2018, the Department is running its first photo competition for first-year undergraduates on the Arran field trips.

There's a £25 prize for the winning photographer, so grab a camera and send in an entry

We have two super simple categories: "people" for capturing those around you hard at work/play, and "not people" for your best science, arty and landscape shots (there can be people in them, but they shouldn't be the main focus).

Rules

  • One entry per person, per category
  • Must be taken on 2018 Arran field trips
  • Entries from IAs only
  • Submitted as a single digital file
  • Filters and/or photoshopping discouraged. Minor edits are fine.
  • Entering the competition means that you agree to your photo/s being used by the department for promotional and other purposes*

The judges will pick a single winner from each category, and award one overall £25 prize.

Important dates

  • 14 Mar - competition launch
  • 27 April, 5pm – submission deadline: email as an attachment to comms@esc.cam.ac.uk
  • 11 May – winner announced

*We acknowledge that any photo you take and submit to the competition remains yours under copyright law, however, by entering the competition you agree to grant us license to use your image/s in departmental promotional materials such as the department web site (www.esc.cam.ac.uk), the department Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/cambridgeearthsciences/) or the department Flickr web site (https://www.flickr.com/photos/earthscicam) - this is not an exhaustive list.

We are equally mindful that individuals featured in photographs entered for the competition may not want to be featured on department affiliated materials, thus could you check, where possible, before you submit an image featuring one or more people that they have no objections to potentially featuring in department promotional or other materials.
