Part IB - Southwest England

'A two-centre break', as the brochures would put it, in Southwest England. Five days in Dorset on the fossiliferous Jurassic and Cretaceous shallow marine sediments, and five days in Devon and Cornwall seeing nicely deformed Palaeozoic sediments, the granites and mineral veins which cross-cut them, and a piece of old ocean floor thrust onto them. The Dorset section is designed for people studying Earth Sciences A, and the Devon and Cornwall section for those reading Earth Sciences B, so if you are only doing one of these courses you need only come on the relevant part of the field trip.

Sarah Humbert, Earth Sciences Librarian, gives her impressions - as a non-geologist - from the Dorset leg of the SW fieldtrip 2016
