Earth Sciences is awarded a Silver award for their achievements in the Green Impact scheme

The University of Cambridge presented its Cambridge Green Challenge awards for the 2017-18 academic year at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences in the summer.  The ceremony recognised the efforts of staff and students who had worked to improve the environmental performance of their places of work and study.  Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Stephen Toope presented the awards to the winners in each category.

Our department took part in Green Impact for the first time in 2016-17, and gained a Bronze award.  Along with five other departments, we built on our achievements last year, to gain Silver this time round.  Auditors were impressed with the work that had taken place at Earth Sciences, and fed back very positively about everything they saw.  Thanks go to all the members of the Department who do their best to minimise our carbon footprint.  However, it’s very easy to slip back into old, less sustainable ways, so let’s continue to try to be green!
