If samples are liquid solutions or can be easily dissolved in nitric acid (typical however other acids may be possible), the routine method of sample introduction is via nebuliser/spray chamber. Often a dilution step is required to an accurate final volume prior to analysis.
We use an ESI SC-2 DX autosampler for automated sample introduction. This device can hold up to 120 samples plus standards and blanks for overnight unattended batch sample runs.
Prior to analysis, users are requested to email spreadsheet lists containing sample names and dilution information for easy entry into the ICP-MS software.
