How to Make a Donation
If you would like to discuss how you might contribute to the Department of Earth Sciences, please contact our Head of Department, Professor Richard Harrison, who will be very pleased to talk to you confidentially.
Online giving
The University’s Office for Development and Alumni Relations (CUDAR, formerly CUDO) has made it easier to make donations online to the Department. If you wish to make a donation, please go to the University of Cambridge Development Office secure website, where you can donate to either the general (unrestricted) fund, or one of our more specific funds.
Postal giving
Alternatively, you can make a donation by cheque or credit card using our postal donation form.
US taxpayers
If you are a US taxpayer, you may prefer to donate via Cambridge in America, which is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organisation (recognised by the US Internal Revenue Service) that funds grants to benefit the University of Cambridge and its member Colleges and Departments. Gifts to Cambridge in America qualify for an income tax deduction to the limits allowed by law. You can give online or by post within the US using the Cambridge in America gift form. Please state that you would like your donation to support the Department of Earth Sciences when making your gift.
Leave a gift in your will
One very effective way of contributing to the long-term development of the Department’s programme is through the provision of a legacy in one’s will. This form of support has the added benefit that legacies to charities are exempt from tax, and so reduce liability for inheritance tax. The University provides advice about how legacies can be written into one’s will, including a pdf file entitled: A Gift in Your Will.
