Research
My research interests lie at the interface between igneous petrology and economic application. I am looking at ‘Late-stage magmatic liquids and ore deposits’, which incorporates aspects of petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry and experimental petrology.
My current focus is on the movement of immiscible Fe- and Si-rich fluid phases through a crystal mush, a process which has significant implications for ore-bearing layered intrusions. The aim is to apply new understanding of high-temperature emulsions to the Skaergaard Intrusion and the Upper Zone of the Bushveld Complex.
