My Interest is understanding phenotypic evolution at the macro- and micro-evolutionary levels. To that end I use insights from the fields of developmental biology and palaeontology. I am fascinated with how avian dinosaurs (birds) diversified into over 10,000 species with very different morphologies, especially skull morphologies. In my PhD project I am working in Dr. Daniel Field’s avian palaeontology lab and Ben’s embryology lab to understand the developmental underpinning for the cranial diversification of the second oldest lineage of bird; the Galloanserae (Chickens, Duck and their close relatives).
