Biography:

I am a PhD student studying the sedimentary record of glaciation, focusing on comparing Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic glacial sediments. The aim of this study is to identify similarities and differences between glaciations described as 'snowball Earths' and normal glaciations, especially in the record of deglaciation. Neoproterozoic glacial diamictites are often overlain by cap carbonates, whereas Paleozoic diamictites are rarely associated with carbonate. Is this due to a change in glaciation style, ocean chemistry or biological processes?
